The Process
Food Folio is my introduction to Product Design, where I leveraged my design knowledge and experience in design thinking. I discovered that while people care about their food and health, many fail to take action. My design background helped me identify environmental influences and behavioural patterns contributing to unhealthy eating habits.
I gained hands-on experience in user research, prototyping, and usability testing, allowing me to understand user needs better. I also learned the significance of visual design and hierarchy in creating engaging user experiences. This journey has deepened my passion for developing products that inspire positive lifestyle changes.

Initial Problem Discovery
Balancing a social life, physical activities, self-care, and work commitments can be challenging, often leaving little time to prioritize healthy eating. The demands of managing social events, fitness routines, and professional deadlines often lead individuals to opt for quick, convenient food choices, such as fast food. This pattern frequently results in poor nutrition, weight gain, and an increased risk of health issues like diabetes and cardiac diseases. Finding harmony between life’s pressures and maintaining a nutritious diet is a common struggle for many in this demographic.
I swiftly reached out to several individuals through personal connections to understand their experiences with food tracking. Through these conversations and further research, I discovered some surprising insights
User’s Perspective
Users indicated that they often skip one meal each day to manage the demands of their hectic schedules.
Users with limited access to fresh, healthy ingredients often find themselves relying on processed or fast food for convenience.
Users often lack knowledge about healthy meal options, making it difficult for them to choose nutritious foods and create balanced meals.
Due to irregular work hours, users find it challenging to plan and maintain a consistent meal routine, often leading to skipped meals or unhealthy eating habits.
Users find food logging and tracking challenging due to the complexity of accurately recording meals, the effort required to consistently monitor intake, and the lack of macronutrient distribution information.

The app marketplace for food tracker apps is diverse and dynamic, offering a variety of options to users across different platforms. Established apps set the standard, while emerging trends drive the evolution towards personalized nutrition and seamless integration with wearable devices. Monetization strategies vary, with freemium models, in-app purchases, and advertising presenting revenue opportunities.
Presently, Leaders in the food tracker app market, such as Fitness Pal, Lose It! and Lifesum wield substantial influence and user engagement.
SYNTHESIS
User Persona
To better understand the user, I developed a detailed user persona representing our ideal user. This persona highlights their challenges with maintaining a balanced diet, the struggle to consistently track meals, and the need for simple, efficient tools to log food. It also captures their desire for features like macronutrient breakdowns, personalized insights, and seamless integration into busy lifestyles, helping us design a more user-centered food tracking experience.

IDEATION
Mid- Fidelity
After conceptualizing the design direction, I began creating mid-fidelity wireframes to visualize my ideas for the app. This phase primarily focused on the onboarding process and several other key features
I intended to include.
IDEATION
Developing a solution
After identifying common pain points and developing strategies to address them, my solution involves designing a home screen that lets users set their goals and preferences for a personalized experience. To enhance usability, a bottom navigation bar will be crucial, including key sections such as:
Journal - For food tracking and data representation of daily intakes and overseeing your
Hydration, Sleep and Steps.
Explore - To access workout plans and connect with various wellness communities to
help users stay fit and maintain balance.
Profile - For easy access to the user’s profile, meal history, nutrition goals, and settings.
This design aims to streamline navigation and provide a comprehensive tool for managing dietary and wellness needs.

Easily track your calories
The onboarding process offers two distinct paths. Users can either complete a goal-driven questionnaire for a personalized setup or skip directly to the home screen for a quicker start. This flexibility ensures both streamlined goal-setting and a fast entry point for users who prefer to explore the app on their own.
Enhancing Health Through Balanced Factors
Hydration, Sleep, and Step Tracker
The app helps you maintain optimal health by tracking your hydration, sleep, and physical activity. It sends timely reminders to drink water, features a user-friendly interface for logging intake, and provides insights into your hydration levels. Additionally, by syncing with your phone, it monitors your steps and sleep patterns, offering valuable data to encourage healthier lifestyle changes. This integrated approach ensures you stay motivated and on top of your wellness goals.

BACKGROUND
The Vision
The app offers a seamless, intuitive food tracking experience, designed with user-centric simplicity. It empowers users to log meals and track progress with minimal effort. With a clean, data-driven interface, the app delivers actionable insights, helping users stay on top of their health goals. Tailored for modern lifestyles, it integrates wellness into daily routines, providing a smart, efficient tool for lasting results.
Another take on Onboarding Journey
This approach emphasizes personalization from the outset. By using a targeted questionnaire during onboarding, users share key information about their goals, preferences, and habits. The collected data curates a customized experience, tailoring the app's content and features to individual needs. This design minimizes friction later on, guiding users to relevant features and enhancing the intuitiveness of their interactions.
Onboarding Journey
This onboarding option allows users to skip initial questions and dive straight into the app, exploring its features at their own pace. Without interrupting their flow, users can access core functionalities right away. This approach is ideal for those who value autonomy and prefer hands-on learning, with the flexibility to personalize their experience later.
